How to Download and Install Facebook Slingshot Outside the US for iOS and Android

After being accidentally released on iOS App Store last week, the Facebook Slingshot is now officially available on the App Store and Play Store. It is into Snapchat-like messaging, but, with some additions.

In any other messaging app like Snapchat you can see the incoming message as soon as you receive it. But on Slingshot, you must send a reply after you receive a message in order to see the message. And there is a Select All option which allows you to send the snap to all the people on your list. Like on Snapchat, you’re allowed to scribble on the snap with variety of colors and you can add text on the picture or as a caption. And there are some neat little animations like when the message you send takes off like a rocket.

Unfortunately, this app is currently US only. But, there is a way to get it outside the US.

For iOS Users:

You can change you country/region to US to get the apps available in the United States. But you’ll not be able to do that if you have some store credits on your account.

To change your country/region on your iOS device:

• Go to the App Store.
• Scroll to the bottom of “Featured” tab.
• Tap on the “Apple ID: example@email.com” at the bottom left corner.
• Tap on “View Apple ID”.
• Tap on “Country/Region”.
• Then select United States.

Now you can go to the App Store (Link takes you to the app on App Store) and download the Facebook Slingshot.

For Android Users:

Its relatively easy for Android user. All you have to do is download the .apk from the following link and install the app. And you are good to go!
